BWC XL.1 Wind Turbine
Bergey Windpower's newest product is the 1,000 Watt BWC XL.1. The BWC
XL.1 is currently available only as a 24 VDC battery-charging system.
A 48 VDC battery charging versions and a batteryless grid-intertie version
(like our 10 kW GridTek system) are in development.
| With a rotor diameter of 2.5 meters
(8.2 ft) and a peak output of approximately 1,600 watts the XL.1 is
intended for the off-grid home market in the U.S. and for rural electrification
programs in developing countries. It is also a perfect upgrade system
for current owners of micro-turbines, such as the Air 303 or 403.

The XL.1 combines a number of advanced technical features,
including a completely new airfoil, to provide the highest efficiency
yet achieved in a small wind turbine at a cost of energy ~ 10% lower than
the current price leader. And, the XL.1 carries the exclusive, industry-leading,
Bergey 5-year warranty. "We are very excited about the XL.1. We think
customers are really going to like this machine" notes Mike Bergey,
BWC's president.
Whisper 175 Wind Turbine
Whisper, a name with more than 10 years of experience in the field,
has been re-engineered and launched under the Southwest Windpower
family of wind turbines. The Whisper has an all-new look featuring
cast aluminum frame and smooth, quite operation of the patented
"angle-governor" furling design.

The new 175, a 3.2 KW rated
turbine, can deliver in excess of 500 KWH per month at a site with
a 12 mph average wind speed. The 175 boasts a 15 foot (4.26m) rotor
diameter providing a total swept area of 175 sq. ft. Newly redesigned,
the Whisper 175 incorporates a stronger, larger yaw shaft, new blade
stabilizer straps and a third spindle bearing for increased reliability.

The 175 features a hand-laid fiberglass and foam

village power projects, farms, ranched, back-up power systems and
remote homes applications.
Standard with every Whisper 175, the EZ Wire
controller allowing for additional input for a solar/wind, hydro/wind
hybrid system. Preset at the factory for 48 volts, the 200 Amp EZ
Wire is field adjustable for 24 or 32 volt applications. The turbine
and controller are included with the system, optional towers are
available. |
